Tuition with Michael Newton

Lessons are structured on an individual or group basis and take place at Barrow Golf Club, either in the Swing Studio or out on the practice areas. Michael uses ‘C-Swing’ video analysis software which captures the pupils’ swing from 2 different angles allowing him to replay back. C-Swing will give video analysis of your swing and provides comparisons with top European Tour Players. Lessons can also be downloaded onto disc for pupils to take home for post lesson practice.

Michael will act as a game consultant advising on your swing, how to improve scoring and provide some excellent game management and analysis techniques. All you have to do is e-mail your thoughts and questions or if possible a video clip of your swing and Michael will construct a comprehensive programme for you to work on.

Club Fitting with Michael Newton

The purchase of a set of golf clubs or driver is a major investment and it’s so important to get the clubs fitted to your personal technique and build. Everyone is built and swings the club differently so how can we all play with a standard set of clubs? The answer is simple, we can’t!!

Book a fitting session with Michael and he will talk to you about your needs and with a wide range of demo woods, irons, wedges and putters on hand to try, I’m sure you’ll find the right set for you. Michael will then carry out a full custom fit which comprises of :

Measuring overall height and wrist to floor.
Establishing the correct length of club.
Establishing the correct lie angle.
Finding the correct type of shaft eg, steel or graphite, flex, weight, torque etc.
Finding the correct type of grip and thicknesses to suit the players hand size.
Set make-up eg, replacing longer irons with hybrids/rescues or adding extra wedges etc.

For driver fitting Michael uses the Vector Pro Launch Monitor (see pictures) which measures clubhead speed, ball speed, launch angle, spin rates, descending angle, distance plus more! This helps Michael to determine which driver head, shaft, flex and loft is best suited to your swing to help maximise accuracy and distance.

Michael is also a Yes! Golf Custom Fit Centre for all Yes! Putters. He uses video technology to analyze the ball roll from impact, so from there Michael can completely build the putter to suit. This process can also be done for Odyssey and Ping putters.
